The most widely deployed mobile virtualization solution
Some big news has been happening at Open Kernel Labs. We caught up with CEO Steve Subar for a moment to chat before he’s off to Eurpoe and Asia.
B: Probably the most exciting news here at OK is the funding from investors Citrix, Chrysalis Ventures and Neo Technology ventures. How does this elevate OK Labs?
Steve: This funding enables OK Labs to accelerate growth and it says that we’ve reached a new pinnacle of success at a time when financial markets are depressed and uncertain. It’s a clear message of confidence as we go on to even more positive results and a very bright future.
B: How will these relationships accentuate OK’s leadership position in the embedded virtualization market?
Steve: Of particular interest is the announcement of Citrix’s strategic investment. They’re a company with impressive momentum in application delivery infrastructure and are an enterprise virtualization technology leader. Customers want to work with leaders. We look forward to expanding on this alliance at events such as Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
B: Also, news at OK Labs is our position in VisionMobile’s 100 Million Club, a list that recognizes solutions deployed in over 100 million mobile devices.
Steve: And we’re not just in 100 million, our embedded hypervisor, OKL4, is in 250 million devices, and we’ve got the momentum to keep going. The 100 Million Club lists OK Labs with other impressive companies and we’re proud to join the ranks as the only embedded hypervisor solution on the list.
B: So what’s next for you?
Steve: In about a month I’ll be traveling to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress, Las Vegas for a Goldman Sachs investor relations event, but first it’s off to France and then Asia for some meetings. OK Labs is really moving, and we’re all excited to be a part of it.
B: Will you bring me some unpasteurized cheese and fancy chopsticks?
Steve: I’ll see what I can do ![]()
