FRAMINGHAM, MA -June 26 2008 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows and events has announced that CTO, Gernot Heiser, will be speaking at the upcoming Mobile Linux Conference at LinuxWorld.  Heiser’s session, “Open-Source Virtualization: The Right Match for Embedded Linux” will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2008. The Mobile Linux Conference, will address the increasing penetration of Linux into the mobile handset marketplace.  Attendees will receive in-depth technical training, strategic insights, and hands-on experience in mobile Linux from industry experts covering topics including application development and deployment, power management, mobile initiatives, best practices, and more.  LinuxWorld, the largest and most comprehensive event that focuses exclusively Linux and open source, is scheduled to take place August 4-7, 2008 at the Moscone Center.

This session will examine requirements of modern embedded systems and how they can be addressed with a generalized virtualization approach based on the OKL4 microkernel. This technology is cutting-edge, yet mature enough to power dozens if not hundreds of millions of devices, and it is open source.

Gernot Heiser PhD is the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Open Kernel Labs and the leader of the Embedded, Real-Time and Operating Systems Research Program at the National Center of Excellence for Information and Communications Technology in Australia. Dr. Heiser is also a faculty member at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), where he created a suite of OS courses and led the development of several research operating systems.

“The timing of this conference is perfect because it compliments the success of the mobile Linux focus that LinuxWorld® 2007 featured. “As the mobile market continues to grow, mobile manufacturers are increasingly turning to Linux as a strategic platform to deliver more capable devices with increased flexibility and lower costs,” said Melinda Kendall, Vice President and General Manager, LinuxWorld.  “We’re excited to have so many industry leading speakers already lined up to present at this inaugural event.”

LinuxWorld is the premier event for the Linux and open source community, bringing together industry leaders shaping the future of new enterprise technology in the largest single gathering of business and technical leaders deploying Linux and open source solutions.  Attendees can register for a free exhibit hall pass to LinuxWorld Conference & Expo on or before August 3, 2007 at www.linuxworldexpo.com/register.  Exhibit hall passes are $50 thereafter. The pass provides attendees with access to the keynote addresses, feature presentations, birds-of-a-feather meetings and the exhibit hall floor.
