The most widely deployed mobile virtualization solution
Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) offer differentiated branded services on handsets in their fleets. These services leverage the capabilities of each mobile network and serve to spur customer acquisition, foster retention, and sustain healthy average revenue per user (ARPU). Mobile branded services highlight the difference between a basic provider and a value-added provider of a complete mobile experience that encompasses applications, voice, and data.
However, integration of branded services requires close interaction between device OEMs and MNOs, a process that can be complex and represents a potential bottleneck in time-to-market for new handsets. As such, both device OEMs and MNOs benefit tremendously from streamlining the integration process.
OKL4 mobile virtualization supports branded services through dedication of virtual machines to those services. Isolating software that supports a service, and abstracting that software’s dependencies on the handset running it, greatly reduces software problems during and after the integration process. Moreover, componentization of integrated software and services eases maintenance and support over time and across OSes/versions and device types in the MNO handset portfolio.
Architecting with the OKL4 Microvisor also enables greater security on mobile software. Applications and OSes running within an OKL4 secure cell (virtual machine) are more robust and less subject to exploits, helping MNOs meet challenging security requirements for devices, networks, and transactions that traverse them.
